The Herald Scotland newspaper has reported that The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) is launching an investigation into a leaking methane well in Canonbie in Dumfries and Galloway. The energy company Dart Energy has strongly denied the claims.
We will be watching as this story unfolds and would urge the Welsh Assembly Government to take note as well. They need to understand that methane is a Greenhouse Gas 20 times as powerful as Carbon Dioxide and that Gas wells corrode and leak over time.
